Week Two Update

Good news and bad news this week.

Good news is that I am sticking to my diet and I have yet to miss a morning at the gym except for Sunday's when they are closed.

Bad news, I weighed in at the hospital this afternoon and I gained 2kg=4lbs. Blah. Kinda pissed off about that. Not even sure how it happened either.

But, I'm not giving up. Just going to push myself a little harder at the gym this next week.

School is losing students fast, but as of now I still have a job and I'm still getting paid so I'm hanging in there just find.

To all of those who I know who are heading home to the states for vacation or for good, I hope you enjoy your time there. I'll be headed that direction someday.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Ingrid- Miss you too girl. How's that sweet baby of yours doing?
Lorrie- Thanks for the chats. They help!
Tina- You rock!

Week One Update

So on Friday I completed my first week of my new diet and exercise program. Went to the doctor for my official weigh in and....15lbs lost!!!

So excited! Now I just hope I can stick to it now that I am seeing results.

Saturday I went to COEX mall. It was a nice way to spend the day. Plus, I got to eat some healthy American food, and I bought myself an I-Pod Nano to use when I work-out.

Sunday was a lazy day at home with Kay. Spent most of it watching movies, doing laundry, and just resting.

Now its Monday and I've already been to the gym, so now its time to head to work.

Check it off. One week down. 15lbs down.

This is just the beginning

So for those of you who don't know, my biggest personal goal in coming to Korea to teach was to get away from bad eating habits and to lose literally 100lbs during my year here in South Korea. I wanted to create my own Biggest Loser environment.

This first two months I was here I lost 30 lbs just because of the change in my diet and all the walking around I do here. But, in everything that has happened in the past two weeks, I have decided to re-evaluate why I came here to Korea and what I was doing to make my goal take place.

I realized quickly that I wasn't even putting that much effort into it, and if I was serious about my goal I needed to take some drastic measures.

So I did it....

I JOINED A GYM! Not only that, but I am paying for a Korean personal trainer who even after just one day is already kicking my butt during our one hour sessions. So, I'm being very faithful to all of this. He even put me on a Korean diet. Which so far I have followed to the "T" I must say.

So, I will be using this blog now to also update family and friends on my progress.

The other exciting thing that happened is I bought a digital camera. So, hopefully sometime in the next few days you can check for pictures on here of my apartment, my neighborhood, and my school and students.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Drink water, eat tomatoes, and enjoy the kiwi!

It Happens Everywhere

A lot has been going on here this week and so much of it has been completely unfortunate.

This past weekend we had a four day weekend. I must say I enjoyed the first half of it. I spent time at the National Museum of Korea visiting their Egyptian Exhibit. I look forward to going back there sometime when it is less crowded.

Unfortunately, on Tuesday I got the sad news that my boss had unexpectedly passed away at the age of 35. Though the specifics of her death are not for me to share, I do pray everyday for her family because I know they are having a very difficult time with all of this.

As of right now, they are keeping the school open so I do still have a job. I love my students so I am glad I get to continue teaching here. Life has become a huge adjustment this past week because of everything happening, but I know in time things will settle down.

For now, I just ask you to pray for her family.

First Blog of May

What a week. Work was crap on Friday. It was so bad I'm not sure what happens next when I go to work on Wednesday. Luckily, we have a four day vacation right now so it is giving me time to think about things and try to figure stuff out. Today was a lazy day at home. Cleaned my apartment, did laundry, grocery shopping, watched tv, did a little reading, and spent quality time with Kay. Tomorrow I am meeting up with Tina to go to the National Museum of Korea because they have a new Egyptian exhibit there and I love stuff that has to do with Egyptians and that time period. Nothing much else planned for the vacation days. Trying to prepare myself for what might happen when I go back to work on Wednesday.

Overall, I feel like I am having a good experience here in Korea but there have been certain situations and people who have been making this a very unpleasant experience. But, I'm not going to dwell on their stupidity or even on the situations. I am trying to make the best of the situation and figure out what to do from here. Enough talk about all of that though.

Love and miss you all!!
